The cosmetic bonding process is similar to tooth-colored fillings, but has a wider application and may be used to:
- Repair teeth that are slightly chipped or cracked
- Close small spaces between teeth
- Change the shape of your teeth or make them appear visibly longer
While some cases require more involved processes, such as veneers and crowns in a single day, some patients only need the convenient and less expensive option of bonding.
Also, unlike dental crowns or veneers, bonding typically requires minimal removal of enamel and does not usually require sedation.
While cosmetic dental bonding is an effective solution for minor dental repairs, it should not be used in cases where a significant amount of cosmetic restoration is required. Dental bonding does not last as long as more permanent solutions, such as dental crowns or porcelain veneers.
